Justine Has Spoken
So here's the thing. When a new recording comes out, an artist has a certain level of anxiety while she waits to hear what the masses think. I'd like to say that I don't read my reviews, that I have an inner compass that tells me if I've hit the mark, that I'm impervious to the opinions of others. But I'd be lying.
Music is, among other things, communication ... it needs a receiver. A one-way conversation is just kind of lonely. So, frankly, what you think of my stuff matters to me very much. It's early, but so far those of you who have had a chance to hear my new project (LOVE WAS HERE FIRST) have been more than kind, and I've found myself happily exhaling. (If you're curious, you can go HERE for a list of early review links.) But, while some artists wait nervously for their Rolling Stone or Paste review, there is one tastemaker I'm always anxious to hear from. This particular reviewer is insightful and incisive, she sets the bar high and isn't afraid to say if I've missed it. This reviewer is Justine Olawsky.
Justine is a long-time supporter of my work, and although I'm writing this blog entry with a smile on my face, I'm quite serious when I say I wait to hear what she thinks of any new project I release. Good news: She has now reviewed my new project at her ADORABLE TRIVIALITIES blog and I think it's fair to say both of her thumbs are up. You can read her review HERE.
Phew!
Keep telling me what you think. It means much.
Peace to you this day,
Carolyn

Never have I felt more like Zarathustra . . .
You do realize that this is just going to encourage me. :-) Thanks to everyone who makes it to the end -- I know it's a long write-up. LWHF: There's so much there there.
I've been enjoying reading all the reviews. And the Mark Moring interview was terrific as well. It will be interesting to see the CT review. Will that be out soon?

I was waiting for you to find it :)
It is 2 thumbs WAY UP! I also look forward to Justine's reviews but try not to read it until I've listened to the new offerings. After a couple listens, then I read her review and find that she has put to paper (or blog) similar conclusions, just more eloquently than I ever could!
