Acclaimed recording-artist Arends brings a new project (Pollyanna’s Attic), an exciting support act (Greg Sczebel) and a Big Cause (sponsorship for impoverished children in El Salvador) to venues across Canada Fall, 2006. For Immediate Release The Past: Billboard Magazine calls Carolyn Arends "one of the most affecting communicators in any genre." She has released 8 albums and is the author of 2 critically-acclaimed books. 15 of Arends’ songs have become top 10 radio singles on the Canadian pop and US Christian charts. Arends has earned 2 Dove Awards, 2 Juno Nominations, multiple Covenant and Shai Awards and was recognized as the West Coast Music Awards’ Songwriter of the Year. The Present: On September 26, 2006 Arends will release her 9th project, Pollyanna’s Attic, an unvarnished, passionate set of soul-searching, heart-wrenching organic pop songs. Early reviews declare the project to be "stunningly, movingly powerful" (suite 101.com), and the Cambridge Evening News proclaims that "very few artists achieve this mix of breath-gentle voice, effortless melody and incisive lyrics." The Tour: Arends is celebrating the release of Pollyanna’s Attic with a cross-Canada tour, featuring Carolyn on guitar and piano and long-time collaborator Spencer Capier on violin, mandolin, guitar and bouzouki. Rounding out the trio will be soulful, Juno-award-winning wunderkind Greg Sczebel, who will back Arends as well as showcase his own music throughout the evening. "I’ve been Greg’s biggest fan since the first time I heard him sing," admits Arends. "I’m thrilled we’ve got this chance to work together." The Cause: The Something2Give Tour will be "adopting" child development projects in El Salvador (through Compassion Canada) and encouraging audiences to consider sponsoring impoverished children from the area. "I had the very great privilege of visiting Compassion projects in El Salvador in August," explains Arends, "and while it was devastating to see the poverty, it was thrilling to see the difference the child development projects make. I’ve always felt a strong connection with the people who come to my concerts, and now there is an opportunity for us to partner together to literally change lives."
